The Polish Institute for Evidence Based Medicine participated in the 48th Congreso Nacional de Medicina Interna de México, held on 19–22 November 2025 in León, Guanajuato, and organized by the Colegio de Medicina Interna de México (CMIM). This year’s congress gathered nearly 3,000 healthcare professionals from across Mexico and Latin America.

PIEBM was represented by Executive Director Agata Salwińska and Aleksandra Stachowiak, Coordinator and Managing Editor of Medicina Interna Basada en la Evidencia (MIBE) textbook. The primary goal of the visit was to promote the newly launched educational platform ebm.one, which offers electronic edition of the Spanish-language textbook (e-MIBE). Strengthening strategic cooperation with CMIM on ongoing updates to the MIBE textbook was another key objective. Several productive meetings were held with Mexican experts actively engaged in the book’s development.

Participation in the congress also allowed PIEBM to present its projects to physicians, residents, and medical students, and to invite Latin American experts to the 11th edition of the McMaster International Conference of Internal Medicine (MIRCIM) 2026 in Kraków. Young doctors were encouraged to participate in the Young Talents in Internal Medicine World Contest 2026 (YTIM), and participants were introduced to the Spanish- and English-language lectures from the 10th edition of MIRCIM (www.mircim.one).

The congress created a strong platform for meaningful professional exchange and collaboration. Discussions with CMIM representatives focused on potential joint initiatives and further alignment of educational activities. During a special session featuring new publications endorsed by the Mexican Society, Aleksandra Stachowiak presented the 5th edition of the MIBE textbook to a broad audience of internal medicine specialists. The team also had valuable opportunities to connect with the Board of the International Society of Internal Medicine and the San Diego Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

Throughout the event, we were glad to showcase the PIEBM portfolio, highlight our mission, and interact with the many attendees who visited our stand.

PIEBM’s participation in the congress was made possible thanks to the financial support of the National Institute of Freedom – Center for Civil Society Development, as part of the Government Programme for Civil Society Organizations Development 2018–2030 (CSODev).
